I have been known to bang on ad nauseum, on this media and anywhere I get the chance, about the fact that Swindon is not, as the naysayers would have you believe, a barren cultural desert, but that it does in fact have culture other than the kind found in yoghurt pots. And here, to prove it yet again, is an article from the splendid Swindon Link magazine: Action! Abstract paintings from the Swindon Collection on display all about the new exhibition in the art gallery and museum in Swindon’s Old Town which has some super new signage so you’ve got half a chance of finding it now!
As the article says: “Swindon Museum & Art Gallery has one of the best collections of modern art works by twentieth century and contemporary British artists. And what better way to show these off than with a new exhibition of some of our most colourful, dramatic and energetic works from the Swindon Collection, featuring paintings by Roger Hilton, Howard Hodgkin, George Melhuish & Stephen Buckley … ” Read the rest of the article here.
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, Swindon DOES the arts!
“Action! Is the new free exhibition at the Swindon Museum & Art Gallery from Saturday 8 February through to Saturday 31 May.
It’s FREE to view and open from Wednesday to Saturday, 11am – 3pm”
Additionally the Swindon Advertiser have a feature on it which you can read here.
