Swindon in the Past Lane

A quick press here to re-blog a post and flag up the writing of Frances Bevan. Frances is a luminary of the splendid Swindon Heritage magazine  and also writes a number of splendid historical blogs, one of which is linked to below. In this particular post she gives a shout out to the people in Swindon who are so active in the town’s arts, culture and heritage scene. Swindon is blessed with a rich cultural landscape, something for we which we can thank all the bods she mentions.  Aside from all of that, and on a lighter note, I was very pleased to see that this particular post has a picture of the Pythonesque ‘white-stick man’. I’ve seen lots of pictures of him on the Swindon Local flickr collection. Love him.

Swindon in the Past Lane: In which I engage in a bit of name dropping!.

As well as Swindon in the Past Lane, Frances writes a number of other fabulous blogs from different perspectives all of which can be found by following the link above. One of them is Good Gentlewoman, a blog about: ‘life as Status, Scandal and Subterfuge, a story about the Lady St Johns of Lydiard Park.  However, the Ladies of the family have proved so fascinating that I have extended my research and launched this new website Good Gentlewoman’.
