Spanish eatery in Old Town takes ‘Best in England’ title (From Swindon Advertiser)
Live outside of Swindon and think that here is a town devoid of culinary excellence? Well think again.
In recent years the food and cafe scene in Swindon has steadily improved and we now have a great choice of independent coffee shops and eateries both in the town centre area and in Old Town, and I’ve written elsewhere on this blog about some of my personal favourites: U Piri Piri for Portuguese Tapas, Eggelicious for stunning street food and Rio for brilliant Brazilain food.
So it’s really rather wonderful to see Los Gatos in Old Town voted the best tapas venue in England!
From the Los Gatos website: “Welcome to Swindon’s first and only traditional Spanish bar, established in April 2006 and recently voted the most popular tapas venue in England in a competition sponsored by Spain’s Alhambra Brewery. We hope you will enjoy a drink and/or something to eat in a friendly Spanish atmosphere. A Tapas Bar is not a traditional restaurant. There are no starters and main courses – just small dishes which you can enjoy with a drink at a table or at the bar in Spanish style! .”
Below is a link to the Swindon Advertiser article where you can read all about it. I have partaken of their Sunday Paella fest and it is very scrummy.
