Bardwell O’Neil are Game – Swindon Festival of Poetry | Festival Chronicle
Regular readers of this blog will know that there’s been a poetry festival round these here parts of late. But it would be a big mistake to think that all or even any of the events were worth and heavy as nothing could be further from the truth.
Last Saturday I travelled on the poetry bus, the passengers on which certainly covered the generational range. However there was even an event just for the youngsters designed to appeal to their innate desire to run about and then to get them writing poetry about it! Neat eh?
Follow the link below to read this and the rest of the account from Festival Chronicle: “Bardwell O’Neil are Game turned out to be the perfect format for a seven year old to write poetry. Basically: a running around game, followed by writing down words about it, followed by another running around game, followed by more words, then poetic genius, followed by more running around games followed by more poetic genius. Wears me out just remembering it….”
We’ve already heard on this blog from young Salvador – well Festival Chronicles was asked by young Milo, who so splendidly performed on the poetry bus, to draw attention to his blog – he started when he was five (he’s now seven) years old. So here it is. It’s quite a cool blog – and it may or may not contain zombies! It also, I think, gives lie to the myth that technology is stifling/killing creativity. Blogging I reckon is the perfect marriage!
PS: Here is the blogpsot of the organizers of this fun and frolicsome poetry event.
