The new Core Art Gallery | Swindon Viewpoint
Sunday 15th December
Well. Ain’t life strange? No sooner do I publish a fairly extensive post about the very extensive arts in Swindon in which I make the observation that there’s bound to be something/s I don’t know about or have missed. No sooner have I pressed ‘Publish’ than this film from Swindon Viewpoint pops up on my Facebook timeline. It features the opening of an art gallery/showcase in the upstairs area of Core a relatively recently opened juice bar and holistic lounge in Swindon’s Old Town. So I thought I’d do a quick press … geddit?
As it says on their Facebook page: “Two budding art enthusiasts Kerry Gault, Fine Artist and Katiy Ackrill have launched The Core Gallery above The Core Swindon: Juice Bar & Holistic Lounge in Old Town. The gallery is free to visit and is made up of local painters, artists, sculptors and photographers. The work will change each month and events and workshops, to get local creatives’ to make and submit work, are being organised. Also 25% of all artwork sold will go to our nominated charity Yes to Life who help people choose alternative and complimentary cancer treatments. So come check it out!”
Unfortunately, for reasons too tedious and numerous to mention, I haven’t yet managed to visit this place but it seems people are going bananas about it if the reviews on Trip Advisor are anything to go by – though it’s not wall to wall compliments – there are some caveats. Best to give these places a try-out I say. But at least someone is trying to do something different so hats off to them. So when I get a chance I’ll give it a try though really and truly I think I’d rather have a glass of wine….oops…..
